I was born in Bonefro in 1957. My family immigrated to Montreal in 1960, and then to New Rochelle NY in 1961. Many "bonefrani" lived in New Rochelle, and they had their own club, "The Bunny Club." During the week the men would play cards and socialize; on special occasions they'd have a dinner dance where the wives would also attend. Us kids would have our communion, or graduation parties at the club. Then at Christmas all the "Bunnys" would get together for a party. This is where the "italian bonefrani" would meet the "american bunnys." The women would do all the cooking and go out and buy gifts for all the kids. The men would set up tables and clean up. Someone would play the piano while we sang chirstmas carols. Then there would be loud bang at the back door, and thats when Santa would come in and pass out the toys. The "Bunny Club" has since closed, but every so often I meet someone and then discover that they're a decendant of Bonefro. Inevitably at the same time we say to each other "so you're a Bunny too." I learned about this site from my friend Bob, who I met, and then later discovered that we were pisani. I often wonder how many people I may pass or see in my daily routine not knowing that they maybe distant relatives. Thanks for this attempt to connect the dots...love the site.
